Mid Year Update

I can't believe it's already June! It feels like almost yesterday that I was standing under fireworks in a crowd full of people at a New Years Festival. 6 Months honestly go by SO fast. This year has probably been so fast paced because of studying full time, hence the lack of posts; BUT I have a huge lot of photo's to post and write about so bare with me.

Here are some snaps of my new favorite breakfast. Behold the smoothie bowl (or just lain smoothie in a cup) I used to hate smoothies, I used to despise fruit when I was younger as well so this is a big change. I usually have a smoothie twice a day, one in the morning and one for a snack or after dinner as a healthy substitute for dessert. The smoothie consists of:
-Banana
-Berries
-Coconut
-Milk
-Greek Yoghurt (optional)
- A dollop of sugar free maple syrup (also optional)
I use the maple syrup as a substitute for honey, which you can also add it really doesn't matter!

Post-Uni Lecture leg selfies. I finish class at 11am on monday mornings so basically I have the rest of the day to relax- which is great because it allows me to ease into the week, as opposed to high school hours from 8-3. The weather is getting quite chilly so you must be questioning why on earth I'm only wearing a sweater? But it was honestly so big and cosy that I probably would have over heated because I had my electric blanket on as well (if you don't have one- I highly suggest you invest in one for winter, they are a godsend).
You must be wondering what I have in my cup, its just plain water with ice, lime slices and berries. I absolutely hate drinking straight water so I always have to mix it up a little! Doing this makes it so much more fun to drink (The only thing not fun about it is 5 drink bottles later and you've peed about 35 times)

Beautiful sunset outside my room the other night! Always have the best views. My neighbors must think I'm creepy and taking photo's of their house though haha kinda awkward.
My second set of Triangl bikini's finally came! My parents think I'm weird for buying a bikini at the beginning of winter but considering I'm going to Fiji and Hawaii I thought it was a pretty good idea! I love the set so much, probably my favorite. I was anxious about the sizing but they fit perfectly which I'm so happy about. I cannot wait to wear them.

Snuggled up on a Monday morning in my fluffy blankets with a copy of Elle. Anything with Miley on the cover I have to buy. I don't care if I paid $10.00 for a stack of paper stuck together because Miley is the queen.

OOTD of a typical uni outfit! Striped tee, leather shorts and Nike's.

Hope you guys enjoyed! Have a good day/night wherever you are :)

Favorites Right Now!

Hi Guys!
Yes I'm back so soon.. you can thank procrastination for that. I have a University assignment which I'm pretty sure is due Friday, yet I have not started. I'm stressing but at the same time I kinda don't give a shit. I would much rather talk about what I love at the moment and aimlessly scroll through the internet instead of talk about statistics and write essays. Am I right? Of course I'm right no one likes homework. Anyway...

This post was originally going to be about all my favorite trends right now, but as they don't change as often as I change my outfit does..I decided to gather a list of foods, restaurants/hangouts, books and music as well as clothes. I've decided this list is a great way to cure my boredom and feed my need to procrastinate as well as letting you guys know a bit more about me in regards to what else I like and do in my spare time.

Trends:
My number one favorite trend right now is coats. Long coats short coats, fluffy coats and camel colored coats. A statement piece that can be warm (preparing for the upcoming winter season here in New Zealand) as well as being very versatile. I find they are amazing for when you are simply having one of those days where you just can't seem to find anything that looks good- you can just throw a coat on paired with great shoes and either a good hand bag or a great hat and you're set to go. Some times (and most times) less is more. I always find that when I look back on outfits from a week ago to a year ago, my favies tend to be very basic outfits, as opposed to an era we no longer speak of (2007) where I thought flare jeans, halter tops and about 10 necklaces were so "fashun". Out of my almost nineteen years on this earth, if I could erase any year it would most definitely be 2007.

Colors and Prints:
Most of you know I love neutral colors and tend to stick to them. I have very few bright items in my wardrobe. I just feel you can do SO much more with colors that don't stand out, as people tend to notice colors that pop and bring up the awkward "haven't you worn this outfit before.?" Aside from the usual favorites:black, white, grey and taupe I still find myself loving pastels. Pale pink to be precise would probably be my go-to color if I wasn't choosing black. As for patterns I adore houndstooth, anything from houndstooth skirts to pants to blazers.

Books:
Although I haven't read the whole thing, I must admit I'm dying to. Babe Walkers "White Girl Problems" and "Psycho's" are two books that are an absolute must read before 2014 ends. I have to say I'm not a huge reader. If I commit to a book I must really love it. I usually prefer light hearted books and autobiographies of some sort, for example Alexa Chung's "it". Of course I do like the odd fictional book, few of my favorites are Breakfast at Tiffany's (surprise, surprise) and Lolita. However I feel that any popular book cannot be released without the movie being released very soon after. I always end up seeing the movie instead.

Food:
In light of my last post, I adore anything and everything fruity from berries to mangoes. Acai bowls are most definitely topping the chart of my never ending list of favorite meals at the moment. Something else I will never get enough of, despite it being unhealthy is waffles topped with cream and syrup, for me, it is an absolute mandatory order if I find myself going out brunching with a few of my close pals.

Restaurant/Hangout's:
To be fair this place isnt exactly either a restaurant or a hangout. But it's a tiny little cupcake store just off of Teed Street (Newmarket) called "Petal Cupcakes". I would say "you can't miss it!" But you actually can because of its cute shoebox sized space. Petal Cupcakes is a long time favorite of mine but I had just realized that I don't think I've written about it yet! In my last year of high school I would often go down with friends to get one. They are the most beautifully decorated and most scrumptious things I have ever eaten in my life. They are so perfect I don't want to ruin them. There are so many flavors I've yet to taste all of them, but I guess I can try..

Music:
I am a huge music lover. If I don't listen to music throughout the day I will most likely be a cranky troll and you do not want to be around when that happens, I have many songs that are my favorites but I've gathered a list of just some I've recently been listening to a lot:

Say you'll be there- MO
You're not the one- Sky Ferreira
Flaws- Vancouver Sleep Clinic
Collapse- Vancouver Sleep Clinic
Fancy- Iggy Azalea
Fifteen- Goldroom
Embrace- Goldroom
Love Like This- Kodaline
Waiting Game- Banks
Before I Ever Met You- Banks
Brain- Banks
Arabella- Arctic Monkeys
I Blame Myself- Sky Ferreira
We Exist- Arcade Fire
Dreams- Fleetwood Mac
Love Me Like I'm Not Made Of Stone- Lykke Li
Give Me Love- (Ed Sheeran/Demi Lovato Mashup)

This Months Inspiration!

Hello All,

Its been a while but I have finally found the inspiration to write something I've recently become passionate about!  Although  this post will be different from my others, I hope it will inspire you to do the same/ take action towards becoming a better you.

I know, I know You're thinking that the whole "new you" thing is apart of the "new year, new me!" fad aka the thing everyone vows to do about a week before and after new years. I will admit to having been one of those people myself. I would've always had lists folded into the corners of my wallet or hidden away in the depths of my bedside drawers, notes with scrawled on things I wanted to achieve and improve on, yet never to be seen again..or have been dug up about 3 years later.

I found myself in a pattern of doing this every year and decided that my "to do" lists shall not expire after the month of january, but shall be an option to improve on throughout the year, as well as adding things, and crossing off things! I will admit that I have barely ever achieved all, if not many of my resolutions of last year and decided to completely trash the idea of making a list for 2014. However I have recently gained a new found love of fruits and vegetables, smoothies, juices and all that jazz. Nope, I'm not becoming vegan (which seems to be the new vegetarian these days) although those around me, mostly on tumblr have inspired me to do a fair bit of research or raw eating and cutting out bad foods of my diet. (I'm not becoming vegan or vegetarian just as a side note, as much as I would love to I just adore chicken far too much)

I have never been a huge fruit eater, right from when I was little my mother would have to force me or hide things in my food because I despised them that much. I have gotten better at eating them as I got older but it still wasn't enough. I ate far more processed foods than I did fresh, and I didn't realize just how much it affected me until I recently decided to change my diet.

I am (or was) the bread queen. I love love love bread. I love croissants and pastries now and then etc. But bread makes me tired, it makes me sluggish and it makes me cranky. All of the above was starting to take a toll on my mental health sooo I'm trying to cut it out of my diet. I have to say that the way I feel now (after changing my diet) as opposed to about a month ago is very, very different! (in a good way!)

Instead of toast and cereals for breakfast I have now switched to fruit smoothies. my favorite ingredients consists of berries, mangoes, bananas and kale (not together of course)
Lunch will be a chicken salad(heavier on the salad for once in my life) and a smoothie, and for dinner I just eat whatever my mother makes but I am still conscious of what it is I'm eating, if I can change it to be healthier, e.g. brown rice instead of white. etc etc

As well as changing my eating I have also decided to make more of an effort to exercise, Ive always gone on walks but in the past year I haven't put a whole lot of effort into them or gone more than about 6kms. There was once a time where I was obsessed with walking and running and would go 10km a day if not more, but knowing it was starting to get a bit extreme I stopped. That was about a year and a half ago and after looking at myself in the mirror for a while I decided I wanted this change. I wanted to prepare for a toned bikini body by september and that was just what I was going to do.

Its only been a bit over 2 weeks but I feel happier, can already see small changes in my figure, I sleep better than I used to, the list goes on! I cannot tell you how content I feel with my life after starting to make this change.

Something I am very willing to try is this 1 day juice cleanse from Nomad Nutrition. A 3 day cleanse is also optional, but you get 6 different juices in either classic, custom, or green, all come in a variety of flavors and all looking absolutely amazing. They are packed with the most nutritious ingredients and do not deprive you whatsoever. Their main aim is not weight loss but to cleanse your system from toxins. I have read and heard many raving reviews and am so eager to try it out for myself!

Weekend Antics

Hello everyone!
I apologize for the lack of posting, There never seems to be enough hours in the day anymore, I'm either at University, writing assignments, or if I'm not doing that I'm usually procrastinating and putting off everything thats important. I wish I was able to find more time to blog and go out and do things, and I know me talking about Uni gets boring but it is literally taking over my life! Anyway lets skip the irrelevant stuff and get on to what I'd rather be doing, which is writing this blog post. Thankfully, its holidays coming up soon so I will most definitely be able to post more!

And also, some more exciting news is that I'm going back to Hawaii later this year! I was going to go to L.A as it's been around 8 years since I went last but my brother was persistent in not wanting to go so I just decided i'd put it off a bit longer and hopefully go with a friend or my mum in a year or two when I have time and money. But yes. Hawaii is like my second home I absolutely love it, everyone is so friendly, the weather is always spectacular and it has my two favorite things- the beach and shopping! It will be my 3rd time going back to Honolulu and I'm already planning everything. I don't have exact dates set yet but in around 4/5 months or so I will probably go and will be absolutely sure to do a huge post on it as I love documenting everything especially holidays.

Again off topic..back to my post. Yesterday I caught up with one of my best friends Tash and we went into town for lunch (more specifically french fries to cure our horrible hangovers) and to take photos for our blogs, and our conjoint blog: thefridaycult, which after months we are still yet to post much on. I didn't end up taking a substantial amount of photos and this post is definitely more text than it is pictures, but bare with me, there shall be more! I just felt like I owed a bit of an update.. lets get to it then.

This is my sad attempt at an OOTD photo. I barely take full length photo's as I suck at them and there wasn't much point as my bag literally covers everything, but it's ok the outfit wasn't majorly special. As I wasn't feeling on top form i just threw on this which consisted on black skinnies, a black high neck singlet, a Karen Walker "Runaway" necklace, Celine Bag and Chelsea booties. I'm going to state the obvious and point out that I'm wearing all black. It's my favorite color and I incorporate a lot of it in my wardrobe but don't actually think I've put together a whole outfit that was just black before, so I kinda felt a bit self conscious. It ended up being a hot day so I was left roasting and I just hope people don't think of black as a depressive color or if that was the look I was intending to go for, as I'm usually happy and positive!

Tash and I didn't go for a huge meal, we shared fries, chicken pieces and a glass of lemon, lime and bitters, you know the usual. I can't remember the name of the place but it wasn't far from Silo Park and the view of the sea was great, sadly I forgot to take pictures of that.

This was taken at Silo Park, As you can see, I tied a flannel around my waist later on because my self consciousness got the best of me and I thought it pulled the outfit together a lil more. I like this photo because it basically describes Tash and I's friendship in a nutshell: clothes, Silo Park and taking photos of each other.

To end tonights post I thought I would leave you a quote and some food for thought. Pretty sure I have previously mentioned this book in one of my other posts (its called Staying Strong 365 days a year) and I swear by it. Its nice to wake up and read something inspiring and having a daily goal to stick by to, or just giving you something to think about. I thought this was quite relevant to my, and a lot of other teenage girls lives as we often focus so much on our flaws and our mistakes that we don't realize that flaws can be beautiful too. They're what stitches us together and make us unique. We really should take pride in who we are and the experiences that shape us into what we are today. I don't mean to get all sappy and deep but this particular passage stuck with me throughout the day.

Week one of University done and dusted.

Okay, so.. I started Uni last monday and at the moment I like it alot, the people i've met so far are all really lovely and the campus is great, as for the assignments we haven't really started so I will get back to you on that but that's the part of it I'm surely not looking forward to haha. Anyway this post is not going to be about Uni I just felt like I needed something for my title, and also as an exucse to buy more clothes (putting up with wearing a uniform for almost thirteen years takes a toll on you so when you finally get to wear your own clothes everyday to classes it can be a bit exciting, sad I know)

I am absolutely in love with this coat! its pink and kinda furry, I've seen alot of them around atm so I decided I had to have one, the fit is great and it looks so cute on. I purchased it from Dotti and have yet to wear it out as it's still very hot because summer just finished here! So I am ready for winter (which is a while a way) and the fashion that comes with it! Or until it gets colder at least. The Chelsea boots are from Dotti aswell, they came in Black and also in silver glitter, but I chose the black as they match my wardrobe and the others didn't go with much. I recall seeing both pairs of boots at Topshop a while back but i'm unsure if they still have them! I was eyeing them up online on Topshop about 6 months back and was so sad when they sold out in my size, so I'm thankful I saw these at Dotti- twas meant to be! Aaaah the shorts. I purchased these off of The Iconic, the brand is Ladakh and they are amazing!!! They are so versatile, go with literally and shirt in my wardrobe and have been wearing them non stop. They weren't very pricey either so a great investment! I picked up the Cosmo off of eBay. I am an avid Cosmo reader anyway but I don't think they were selling this one in stores as it was a different version. And it had Ashley Benson on the cover and I decided I desperately needed it haha.(For those who don't know, she is one of my fashion icons, and I love her acting wise as well, I think she's so hilarious and really down to earth)

I also got the Audrey Hepburn picture off of ebay aswell! I am totally in love with it and absolutely adore Audrey. Without even realizing I have seemed to have themed my room around Breakfast at Tiffany's/New York City(as you can see the sticker above my wall of the skyline) This is only half of my room but on the other side I have another frame of Breakfast at Tiffany's and a few bags laying around as well as the book which happens to be one of my all time favorites.

This was my OOTD for yesterday which was my cousin and goddaughter's first birthday party. I was wearing my striped muscle tee by atmos & here, my croc(faux) leather skirt purchased off of peppermayo boutique and my Celine Luggage tote.

A picture of the goodies my brother brought me back from Sydney! he got me the Return to Tiffany's heart tag pendant in silver, and my mother some rose gold heart tiffany earrings! (I say we share them hahah) and also some tortoiseshell sunnies.

A quick snap of me in my Large Audrey sunglasses! I think these have to be my favorite, they are the only I have found that i feel really suit my face shape.

Lastly, one of my packages that came in the mail on Friday! The Wildfox "Bel Air California" Sweater. It's not as bright as it looks and although I don't often wear such out-there colors I really love this! It goes great with any black or white leather shorts and is super comfy especially for University!

iconic

Yes, I am posting more clothes, surprise surprise (not really haha). Because of recent events such as starting Uni I decided it was time to update my wardrobe a lil, and to treat myself (and maybe just because I have a shopping problem)

First off, I purchased this Stylestalker Bump n' Grind tee from one of my new fave online store (The Iconic) be sure to check them out they have some great stuff! the best thing about it is the time it takes to deliver. I ordered in the morning and received the package the next day! Which I think is pretty good in comparison to other online shopping sites which can literally take weeks. You can pair this singlet with pretty much anything and everything, such as a leather skirt, black jeans, black leather shorts...etc. This is probably one of my favorites out of all my purchases!

RAD tee from The Iconic(p.s sorry about the bad quality photo's they were just taken from my iPhone I couldn't really be bothered using my good camera)

Striped Tee from The Iconic

Yes.. another black bag. The amount of black bags I am starting to own is insane..I just couldn't resist. But trust me this purchase was needed. It was only $25.00!(purchased off The Iconic) It's from the brand Ezra which I had never heard of before until purchasing, but I have to say they have a great range of bags at a really good price! I bought this bag for Uni to store my laptop/books, its very spacious and durable as well as stylish.

This.Skirt. oh.my.god.
Both Skirt and red pleather pants were purchased off peppermayo boutique (also one of my new favorites) I got both for $90 including shipping so I have to say I'm quite pleased!

I ordered this NYC wall sticker from etsy quite a while ago but only recently got around to putting it up! It's so gorgeous, it really stands out in my room and its there to remind me that one day I will wake up in front of the real New York City, however this will have to do for now..

If you know me you'd know I have been lusting after the Celine Large Audrey Sunglasses, however I'm not prepared to pay $400 for them as much as I'd like to. I was so happy when I found this pair for only $40! They are pretty much identical to the Audrey glasses, you would not be able to tell them apart(literally the only thing missing is the Celine label) so this I am uber excited about because who knows how long it would have taken me to save up for the real thing!

Last of all but certainly not least I purchased Demi Lovato: Staying Strong 365 Days a Year. A wonderful book, With 365 pages, one page is read daily, along with a quote, how this quote relates to Demi/her life in some way, and a goal for that day. I think its a really inspiring book, you get to learn alot about Demi (even though if you'd ask my friends they would know that I already know everything, haha) and get to achieve goals and overcome fears you may not have. I think its a great idea for anyone struggling with new years resolutions or somebody just looking for inspiration.

mini haul

Hi guys, sorry I haven't posted in so long!!
I've been busy with work (yes I finally got a job) and all I really wanna do on my days off are either rest, hangout with friends or catch up on tv shows so I apologize for not updating much.
I'm just gonna do a quick post on things happening in my life and some new purchases I recently got!

this is prooobably my favorite purchase out of everything(that I have ever owned) I got this Black Celine Boston bag and it has been on my wishlist for well over a year now, I got it in the smooth leather, and literally the day after I got it a saw a lady come into work with the pebbled leather and I feel like I want that one more now but ohwell (not that anyone really cares anyway i'm still so happy with it) it is my baby and I pretty much take it everywhere with me and make sure it never leaves my sight.

next purchases were these two beauties. The top is actually a tshirt dress and it's just from edt by glassons but I love it I think its really cute and unique, I don't really own anything like it! The M.A.C lipstick is the shade rebel which is dark purple, speaking of I will probably upload a photo of myself wearing it in the very near future. I haven't bought anything else but I get paid tomorrow so no doubt there is more to come.

These two photo's were taken on monday when I went out for lunch and shopping with my best friend Tash. Here tumblr is qwurkss and you can find our conjoint blog at thefridaycult.tumblr.com. We searched high and low for macarons but couldnt find them anywhere so we resorted to getting the mc cafe ones but they were still pretty good. We also just strolled around town taken photo's of ourselves, signs and things that interested us!
another snapshot of our day in town, beautiful day in Auckland city! its rare we get weather like this that actually last without it raining five minutes later! This was taken by the viaduct behind The Cloud.
